I am looking to sell my Merida Matts 20 men's hardtail mountain bike. The reason for this is because I have recently upgraded bikes so I no longer have a need for this one.
It has been well looked after and rides like a dream- the geometry of the frame is well designed, making the bike responsive yet still comfortable. The frame has no cracks or dents, although there is the odd scratch as expected, although these are minor and are not very visible.
The gears are all Shimano components, having an 8 speed cassette on the rear and a triple chainset on the front. The gears shift nice and smoothly, although it may need a new gear cable in the near future, so I will throw in a Shimano cable. I would have swapped the cables myself, although I have had very little time to do this lately. This is dead easy to do and take 10 minutes at most to index the gears.
The brakes are Tektro Draco hydraulic disc brakes, and I have never had with any problems with the seals on the calipers. The rear brake's oil has been replaced not too long ago, although the front will need bled. I will throw in a free Shimano Mineral Oil bleed kit which I have just bought. Again, I would have done this myself as it is not very difficult but I have not had time to do this lately. The rear brake pads have been replaced lately and I have just stuck some new pads in the front caliper (they have not been used yet due to the front brake needing bled) and the front rotor has been replaced in the last couple of months as well.
Both wheels are true and are decent quality, having Shimano hubs with Alex Rims.
The only problem that is wrong with the bike is that the front forks need servicing as the lockout has gotten sticky; the forks are locked out atm so this wont pose much of a problem if you aren't bothered about suspension. Again I would have done this myself as it is not too tricky, but I haven't found the time. Like-for-like forks aren't expensive to buy as well.
The bottom bracket is fine and the bearings inside are sound. The headset hasn't long been regreased as well.
I'm looking to get £150 ono as I paid £450 brand new a couple of years ago and the components have been well looked after, with several brand new parts just put on. As mentioned earlier, I'll throw in a brand new Shimano gear cable and a Shimano bleed kit, making the bike good to go for a few thousand miles with minimal work needed.
